The Cabin at Shady Oaks Farms

Step into the country, minutes away from city living. A retreat-like atmosphere in a quaint cabin, surrounded by nature. The tree-lined drive leads you to the front of the cabin where you will find a cozy farmhouse setting with all of the amenities you could need. Complete with a wood stove for cold winter mornings, and ample air conditioning for those hot summer nights. Come spend some time with us; sit on the porch, drink coffee, and (most of all) relax!

The space

The cottage is 450 square feet with one bedroom, a full bath, and a living room/kitchen. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and the couch in the living room pulls out to sleep one. WiFi is available with a smart TV for entertainment. (Youtube TV is enabled for "cable") Non Smoking. Pets are allowed with approval. There is a very small fenced in area attached to the cottage.

Full kitchen with stove, microwave, and refrigerator. We also have pots/pans, plates, silverware. All of the silverware and flatware you would need to have a nice meal in the house. A coffee pot and toaster are available for breakfast. **Our water is supplied by a well**, which is clean and drinkable. **It does have a bit of an off smell to it, which is a bit intense after heavy rainfall.** Overall, it's much cleaner and more pure than Greenwood water. The well has been lab-tested.

This is a working homestead with dogs, chickens, and goats and there may be daytime noises while we are working outside. Behind the cabin, we have pasture of electric fence for our cows. We would ask that you keep a watchful eye on your pups or any children. Touching those wires could potentially ruin your trip! :/ Our roosters totally crow throughout the day. (It’s actually pretty relaxing) Our dogs will bark periodically, particularly as people are coming and going. It’s just their nature, they’re aren’t aggressive. (They are rambunctious, so if you have the chance to pet them they will be excited. VERY excited) - we do our best to bring them inside when guests are here. We have a livestock guardian dog - Laramie - that stays outside all of the time. He will bark during the night, he’s doing his job keeping predators away from our property!
We milk cows twice a day, usually at 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM. You will hear/see us coming and going during these times. We pulled a cart with our supplies that is a bit noisy during these times.

Guest access

Guests will have full access to the property. We do have a small play area for children and our pond is available to fish if you would like.
